White mystery flower

Sugar Land, TX

This beautiful flower was growing in Sayer's garden in Texas and each bloom lasts only one day.
We also saw it growing in clumps in some gardens, but have no idea of the name of it.

Couldn't be better, Tricia. (V)
Very nicely done.

Lovely. My guess would be that its some variety of a Japanese iris.

to me the shape and number of petals suggest it could be a member of the iris family but other than that I can't help I'm afraid. Whatever it may be called, it's a striking and lovely flower.

Terrific photo of the flower, it may be the same family as this one in our garden that lasts for a day only.http://www.pbase.com/mjlamoon/image/115298832

Whatever it is it's as beautiful as an orchid and maybe it is a wild one.
