Rose Breasted Grosbeak

Cape May Bird Observatory: Northwood Center

This Grosbeak appears to have an injured eye.
Its other eye seems perfectly fine.
It sat still on this tree branch for the longest time before finally venturing down to a feeder.
We wondered if it may have hit a window or has a disease in this eye.
Any guesses?

Good for you for getting mine's mate! Sorry he has a bad eye. I have seen many finches with infectious conjunctivitis but they usually have a tremendous amount of swelling and inflammation associated with it. My best guess would be an injury in this guy because the eye actually looks small and may have ruptured. Nice bird to photograph in spite of his injury.
