Crooked House in Windsor

view map

While enjoying a pint of 4% ale in The Carpenters Arms pub I happened to notice this extremely crooked building directly across the pedestrian walkway.
Mind you, I only had 1 pint!
The Crooked House was built in 1592 and now serves as a tea room (and not a very good one according to foodie write-ups!)
Rumor has it that there are many underground passage ways that lead from Windsor Castle to The Carpenters Arms!
I wonder if Phillip is aware of Lizzy sneaking out at night....

This concludes my Windsor gallery! Thanks for visiting! :)

The little crooked house is soooo charming and so very British. I didn't see this when I was in Windsor. Darn. I love the story attached to it! VV

Charming little building.
If I ever want to go to the carpenter's arms I just need to get a hug from my husband. lol
Is that a little tiara I see in the front window?

So, it's stood there for 419 years. I think it's safe to go into it now... Apart from food poisoning...
Good find

It must be very difficult making tea without a level hob... those critics should be more forgiving :o)
