Here are a few photos of the details that I applied to an otherwise stock Athearn SD45T-2. Most of this project follows what Donnell Wells did on his SD45T-2 Clinic. This is not meant to be an "all-out" detail project, but a level of detail that I hope to replicate over my small group of T-2s.
Additional Parts were mostly from the Details West SD45T-2 detail kit, plus the following:
1) Scale width draft gear - Details West #363.
2) Traction motor cabling from Details West #224 and Railflyer Model Prototypes.
3) Details West SD45T-2 Detail Kit (includes PL140 snowplows, cabling, and other goodies.)
4) Cannon & Co. #2023 stepwell tread set
5) Cannon & Co. #2154 Dash 2 SD Chain Tensioner
6) Cannon & Co. Fuel Tank Details
7) Phosphor bronze wire substituted for some of the main reservoir piping.
7) Hand-bent coupler lift bars using phosphor bronze wire.
8) DA 1404 Dash-2 drop step from Detail Associates.
9) DA 2808 Speed Recorder (GE-style).
10) Details West Traction Motor Details & Hangers (DW 362)
It's kind of a nice way to use up some of those detail parts that had been languishing in boxes next to my workbench. I also plan on adding the usual DCC decoder and remotoring this unit with a Kato motor (no milling needed.) Paint and weathering next, of course.
My Thanks to Donnell Wells, Paul Ellis, Elizabeth Allen, and Arved Grass for their assistance and support in getting this project rolling.
Additional captions and photos yet to come.
