Glastonbury 2010

So Glastonbury is 40 years old and reaches middle age! And it was number 10 for me so I’m finally into double figures. Of the previous nine I’ve only ever experienced one completely dry festival but we had wall to wall sunshine this year which meant that shade was at a premium and the medical staff were kept busy with thousands failing to heed the warnings to slip, slap & slop.

As always there were lots of changes this year. New camping fields were added, Jazz World was renamed West Holts and Left Field was back after a 1 year hiatus. The late night area in the South East expanded massively to fill 5 whole fields, although regrettably this meant that my favourite Williams and Dragon camping fields were taken over by crew. The car parks and campervan fields also opened early with an estimated 10,000 people already queuing at the pedestrian gates before they opened at 8am on the Wednesday. Long delays ensued for those waiting patiently in the hot sun.

This year was also very special for me because for the first time my daughter Lucy came along with me. Once she had got her bearings she had a wonderful time. It’ll be interesting to find out how she compares her Glastonbury experience with Reading, which she is also going to for the first time this year.

As in previous years I’ve broken my Glastonbury photos down into 3 sections. They’re fairly self explanatory. I hope you enjoy them.
