Spring forest flowers ended up the highlight of the day, since I didn't run into animal life other than a handful of birds.
These pics were all taken with the 1D Mk III and the 100-400 with a 1.4x TC and only using a monopod, which is a very tough combination in the dim light of a forest. Slow shutter speeds meant that my "keeper rate" was pretty low and even these, if viewed enlarged, shot less-than-stellar sharpness. But it wasn't packing a tripod, so I worked with what I had!
