Thatched House in Wiek

Wiek, Germany

I was surprised to see so many colorful houses in the small sailor villages and towns.
The area belonged to the former DDR and it looks like people were tired of the old grey and dark green monotones of the Socialist years.

the deep yet muted colours add to the sense of solidity...the place looks well sealed up against weather...the waves in the thatch are intriguing...
