Hawfinch

Our Garden

Coccothraustes coccothraustes/Kernbeisser is the largest of the finches in Europa.
Most neighbors have stopped stocking the feeders but the ground is still frozen
and no other food source available.
We found a store that stocks bird food all year.
We hope for the birds and for us that warm Spring air will arrive soon.

So very beautiful; and well captured, with all that detail.... I filled our feeders up, yesterday evening: and was suddenly inundated with house sparrows, dunnocks, tits, and a pair of blackcaps... -- but nothing quite this stunning....
