1899 Benz "Dos-a-Dos"

Mercedes Benz Museum, Stuttgart - Germany

The Dos-a-Dos was powered by the contra engine, the world's first opposed piston engine (developed by Benz). The car derived it's name from the fact that its passengers were seated back to back.

Driving a motorcar back then was not a casual thing. It was an acquired skill; almost a hobby. Lovely the way this has been put back to its original goodness. Wonderful capture and info, Tom!
