Ap Lei Chau

Hong Kong

Per information furnished by Al (see comments below) the HK Housing Authority painstakingly relocated the graveyard seen in this photo (as well as others) to make way for residential estate expansion. This cemetary was directly opposite Aberdeen Fishing Village and was used by those residents until its relocation.

Tom, I grew up in HK FROM '62- '86. My father worked most of his career with the HK Housing Authority. They cleared the hillside cemetries one by one, to make room for resettlement estates. It was carefully done. A great deal of time was taken by various departments. This one, as I remember, was for the fishing Fleet based in Aberdeen, and was directly opposite Aberdeen Village. As Bart says the area called Ap Lei Chau. Thanks

Aberdeen on the south side of HK Island. Still there but srrounded by high-rises now. I lived in Ap Let Chao section of Aberdeen in 90's.
