The colorful street is Caminito and is located in the "La Boca" (The Mouth) neighborhood in Buenos Aires Southern district. The colors are due to the Argentinian painter Benito Quinquela Martín who encouraged the neighbors to take pride in this poor, Italian immigrant part of town by painting the dwellings in bold, bright colors. Benito Quinquela Martín was famous for his watercolors as well as oil canvasses.
