This is first turbo powered jet and was first flown in 1942. On July 5, 1942, it became the first jet airplane to be used in combat and scored heavily in succeeding months against bomber formations. Of the 1400 produced, only 300 made it into the air and hundreds were destroyed on the ground. It was called the Schwalbe (the Swallow)
