A Mystery (solved)

I found this marker (on a single grave site) in the National Cemetery in Louisville. From the inscribed date, June 20, 1945, I'm guessing that these airmen died in Europe two weeks after D-Day. During WWII, there was an Army Air Force base in Louisville (Bolling Field). Did all these soldiers have some connection? I'm going to do some investigating and find out …. stay tuned.

AFTER RESEARCH: These are the combined crew members of the B-29 Superfortress #44-69881 that collided with another B-29 (#42-65373) while on a combat mission over Shizuoka, Japan. The entire crew of 11 men was lost from each plane.
