Patton's Jeep

This is his jeep when he was a Division Commander (Major General). The vehicle itself is, of course, the famous "jeep" of WWII fame. Made by Willys Overland, it boasted 54hp and could hit a top speed of 65mph (but I wouldn't want to be in it at that speed) It had a 4-cylinder in-line engine and a 5-speed manual transmission

I had a similar Willys from 1942; I cannot believe there was a 5-speed transmission, mine had a 4-speed transmission. I drove in 2004 to Normandy with my Willys at an average speed of 90 km./houre with no trouble at all. The distance from my home to Normandy was about approx. 800 kilometers. It was fun to drive !

He took good care of it. Looks like it would still run.
