not far from the Gorge de Galamus is the Chateau Peyrepertuse, which in medieval French means 'pierced stone.' it is built from the stone of the mountain it's on.

as I neared it, I didn't realize it was built by humans - it looked like a very interesting rock formation, which I suppose was the intention of its builders
