This is the species of wasp that stung me a few years back, always wanted to know what insect it was. Only looked it up today because my cat found 1 and was trying to eat but kept spitting it out, maybe because of the sting or tasted nasty. Only see a few in England but i know not to mess with them now. lol

Hi Tom, just came across this page whilst trying to research some insects I'd seen near our house. Can you have a look at the last 3 images here:

I'm trying to establish whether the wasp lays yellow eggs and the maggots which come from them eat the caterpiller from the outside, or if this caterpiller has had eggs injected into it and the final shot is showing the maggots leaving and then pupating into those yellow pods.

Any advice?

saw a wasp today exactly the sae as in iage 2625 in streatham, london today is this rare?
