At Lotta's Fountain, 1875, every year citizens of San Francisco gather at 5:12 a.m. on April 18th to commemorate the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906. The Major hosts the event. Originally, the survivors of the earthquake used this site to leave messages for other survivors. The fountain was originally created as a watering place for horses.
