Butcher Bird

These birds sing beautifully
but are very aggressive.
There were a pair of them trying
to move into our area.
The native minas were defending their
territory very bravely.

Thanks again for your kind comments, Sally and Cindy.
I have never seen one before and felt a bit sorry as the other birds were attacking the pair.
When I investigated and found out about the butcher birds' character, I changed my mind.

It looks like a bird on a mission and does not look very neighborly. Nice capture!

A super shot of this butcher bird in action Elaine. Well done.

They look good and strong, like a fighter plane.
A good well exposed shot

Wonderfully sharp and beautifully processed. I don't know that I have ever seen one of these...

Thanks very much, Terry and Hal.
I was lucky to be out in the courtyard when the territorial battle was on.

Great capture, Elaine. We have a Northern Shrike, which is also called a butcher bird here.
A very different body shape, but has the same hook on the end of its bill.

An exceptional image, Elaine.
Really spectacularly good.
