On our recent trip to Horn Island,
I was relaxing on the veranda of our cabin.
I heard tapping on the roof.
This is what I saw.

Thanks Terry.
Kookaburras are close relatives!!

Sure looks like a kingfisher to me, Andrea, but I'm no expert. Wonderful colors.

I was told this was a kingfisher but I think it could be a blue winged kookaburra.
Sorry if I have mislead you.

Thanks for taking the time to give your comments, Sally and Hal.
I do have more shots as the cricket is devoured, one bite at a time.

This shot must be unique, Elaine.
You have the grasshopper standing on the lower bill.
Presumably the bird was lining it up
before swallowing it.
An amazingly rare shot.

Well spotted Elaine. How lucky to capture it at the right moment.

Thank you so much, Cindy.
I had been trying for several days unsuccessfully
so this was good.

This is great! It is so hard to capture a Kingfisher to start with. You not only did a great job, you got a bonus, too!
