Summer they always look crisp and clean.

Many thanks for your very kind comment, Hal. BTW, I read that the 'hairy' woodpecker gets its name from the tiny hairs that grow out of its upper mandible. If you look closely you can see them.

l too wondered at the unattractive name. Nothing hairy about your photograph though. lt's really first class "comme d'habitude".
