Black Bear Sow

Fishing for salmon along the banks of Fish Creek at Hyder, Alaska I encountered this beautiful black bear sow that also happened to have a pair of young cubs. The entire encounter was exhilarating!

Risky business, Jim, but great shot! I once flew back from Southeastern Alaska with a USGS geologist that had been mauled by a black bear....not a pretty sight!
