One doesn't get the size, until you get along side these huge ships. Out in the Straight they look pretty small. Thanks for shooting this dock side. Great view of th sunset.

It's huge is putting it mildly, it's like an island, a big island.

Thanks Hal, Terry, and Bob! I shot this from the roof top of the cruise ship terminal at pier 66. The freighter was flying a Japanese flag and was the strangest looking freighter I've ever seen, not to mention HUGE! The ghostly figure walking below is the result of HDR processing that sort of brought him in. I was tempted to change that small little portion to fully expose the man walking but I kind of like the ghost feel to it. I also like having the man there to show the imense scale of the ship.

And what the story on the ghost? :)

Amazing perspective, Jim. That's one long ship!

Powerful wide angle image. I didn't noice the ghostly image of the person until
I read Hal's comment.

The lens at 24mm makes this look like the longest ship in the world :)
This is a real eye-catching scene, particularly with that lovely sky.
Looks like you are on an equally large ship.
l'm intrigued at the apparently painted outline of the man on the Quay, Jim
