I try to improve, sometimes, by approaching a shot I have done before, using a different technique and/or a different lens.
The day was stifling ...the heat index at Shiloh was 120 degrees F.I shot this prone, just above the grass.
I'll post the other attempt later in the week...

I love the shot and your composition.
But 120F, that's 48C no way could I venture out in that kind of heat, I'd just dissolve.
Give me the snow and frost any day, a really cool shot though.

This fine image conjures up thoughts of the slaughter that took place here.
the drummer likely in his teens, and all the other young men who died,
and are buried in the background.

This projects a great sense of isolation from the other graves and
emphasizes the subject very well. The monument in the center is quite
creative.
