Kootenai Falls, Montana

Self Portrait

Thank you all for your kind words and well wishes! My recovery is pretty much complete, with a few very minor aches. So much so I couldn't stand sitting around doing nothing so I took a trip to Montana with quite a few stops along the way and back.

Kootenai Falls is just an AMAZING place. The first time I visited there was in October, 2009 and the water level was very low. Which made for many interesting shots of many smaller falls. At that time I planned to return in the future during the spring runoff. And that was this weekend.

Wow, I am so glad I made the effort to get there. So much water, so much power, and you can get right to the edge of the precipice. What's tricky about shooting here is the vibrations coming through the ground from all that water. I managed to get my tripod setup on solid rock that wasn't shaking.

More to come over the next several days from here and the other places I visited in this little jaunt.

Glad to hear that your recovery is on track Jim.
Those falls look to be mind blowing, I can only imagine the noise and power.
A fantastic shot Jim.

The power looks so dramatic against the scale of the man.
Never been near a waterfall that shakes the ground.
Great shot Jim, and gald you are mending well

Wow... that was a fast recovery. That waterfall is incredible
and well captured here. Nice, contemplative, self-portrait.

Remarkable shot, beautifully timed, Jim.
I'd really be proud of this one, if I were you.
