Skagit Valley, Washington

Skagit Valley Snow Geese
In our region, we've been experiencing the affects of last summer's very wet conditions that continue to have long reaching ramifications. Check out this link that Bob Stevens sent Terry and I earlier today regarding the Snow Geese: http://www.thenewstribune.com/2011/01/16/v-

Thanks, Bob for this excellent information. Those of us from this region who are accustomed to overwhelming snow geese flocks inhabiting the Skagit Valley over winter are having a difficult time with not seeing this very impressive annual migration. So, in the absence of the usual large flocks I'd like to share with you some images from my archives. And, I look forward to seeing similar archival images from Bob and Terry.

I just commented on your latest about a good flock and now you are saying numbers are not good this year. The news tribune link didn't work for me.
This was a good image and wonderful sight.

Oh wow, now there's a sight I would love to see.
What kind of numbers are in a flock of this size??
A fantastic shot Jim.

Thank goodness for archives. I'm going to try to get
out on Camano Island later in the week to see if I can
find some there. Will post from archives soon as there
are newer members who have not seen our normal goose
population.

A truly beautiful sight, Jim. Very well captured. It was shocking
to visit the Skagit a few days ago and not see any on the fields.
I'll go through my archives and post a few in the next coming days.
