Freezing Fog

Shiloh, Tennessee

A most unusual phenomenon, yesterday, on a cold bright, clear day, I noticed a portion of the Shiloh Battlefield which appeared to be ablaze.
When I investigated, I found this area of freezing fog, near the Tennessee River. The trees in the area were heavily coated with a layer of ice. Besides the frost you would expect on a still day at 18 degress F, there was no other deposit in any other trees...

Very Cool, This may be Rime, which is frozen fog?
We get this up in Shenandoah NP in the spring sometimes.

This is excellent freezing fog, as Terry says it can be a hazard and last time I was in Freezing fog, my fingers become numb quicker than anything.

Freezing fog is a very interesting phenomenon. I really like the lines from the fences in this image, and the blue sky. Very nice!

We have freezing fogs occasionally - causes great havoc
on the freeways.
