Mitchells House

Dave and I went back out to look at the Mitchell's House. I photographed it in the spring, but it has deteriorated more over the summer. I guess once the roof goes, it all goes fast.
Dave's grandparents owned a farm near the Mitchell Farm. Dave remembers that his Mom referred to this house as the Mitchell's house. I'm not sure why, but I'm really mesmerized by this place and I'm going to find out more about it from Dave's cousin, who lives nearby.

This is spectacular! There is so much to like about this image. The dead tree just reinforces this image. I love it!

A fixer upper.....looks like it was a really fine home at one time. I like the stark feel of this place and the tree that has lost its leaves. Makes for a fine composition. I can see why you like this place so much!

Terry, The tree is not dead. It was leafy/green in my spring shot. Alas, it is that time of year here.

Looks spooky... might be a good site to visit on an
overcast or drizzly day to see this house with a different
character.

Wow, bleak indeed. Must be a sad story attached. Your view with the old
dead(?) tree and weeds really does add to the overall bleakness....

It would have been a fine house in it's day. If only the walls could talk.
It's a shame to see such a fine house in this state of ruin.
You should try and find out the history behind this house.

l well remember your earlier photo, Cindy.
Certainly there must be a story there for quite a fine old house like this
to simply be abandoned. Your photo is well taken with the overgrown weeds
in the foreground and the leafless tree. "Bleak House" indeed.
