This was taken in a local railway museum in Swindon. The locomotive is still used occasionally, and has now been moved to the York Railway museum. They don't make them like this any more!

A most interesting photo Tony, from the height of the mechanical age and the Age of Steam Power. l would guess that the controls made of coil springs are to dissipate the heat. Excellent image. Thanks for showing it to us.
