Half Moon Bay [HAF] The HAF airport is actually in Princeton, not in Half Moon Bay proper. Coastline is often covered by a low level stratus. It happens not too often to find a perfect blue sky in perfect at this airport. Once I even stayed there overnight: Stratus rolled in so fast that we could not take off anymore late afternoon... If the conditions allow, this is a great place to land, eat and stroll. After an excellent lunch at the 3-Zero Cafe, we moved our plane to the south parking area and walked towards the Half Moon Bay Marina. The recession has visibly taken its toll on the vicinity, but a few places are still open there. The ever popular Barbara's Fish Trap was crowded. The Capistrano Cafe is now owned by a Mayan family from the Yucatan Peninsula. The food is delicious. Think Mexican style but without the extra calories. It's fresh, never fried, and worth a try! Be advised: it's cash only. |
