Bullock's Oriole, female

Palo Alto Baylands

I observed this bird singing, and thought at the time it might be a first-year male -- but it doesn't have the black on the chin that a male would likely have at this point in its first spring. And Birds of North America Online reports of this species that "Early in nesting period and before and during nest-building, females sing regularly, and may sing more than males."
