Black-necked Stilts, adult male sheltering juvenile

Radio Road

Males carry chicks under their wings, and even when the chicks get to big to be carried, they go to the male parent for shelter under a wing. Crows were in the neighborhood, attacking an avocet nest, and posing a possible threat to the young stilts.
