Short-billed Dowitcher, juvenile

Pillar Point

The wiggling orange lines down the middle of the tertials mark this bird as a juvenile Short-billed; juvenile Long-billed would have tertials with plain interiors. Adults of both species have barred tertials in breeding plumage, but not the irregular "tiger striping" seen here.
