CRASH ON THE ICE

Fort Worth, TX

The streets were covered with ice this morning and everyone should have been driving slow but this pickup truck tooled by me going pretty fast as I was on my way to work. I kept on at the same speed...slow. About 15 minutes later traffic started to stop. I came up to this pickup who was the same guy that sped by me earlier and he had lost control, ended up going the wrong way on the highway and struck this SUV. Not too much damage and no one was hurt but they were lucky. Maybe, next time it is icy out he'll slow down. The guy standing by the SUV fell twice just trying to walk on the ice. People are stupid sometimes.

Good capture,,,can see the ice glistening. Would it be uncharitable to say, as no one hurt, serve him right? Although not the other driver, of course.
Ice like this is lethal. I was doing about 10 miles per hour once, on black ice the came & went within 15 minutes. Nevertheless I helplessly glided into a fence. Me & kids all OK, and minor damage to car. When we got out, the road was like glass and we couldn't stand up and had to hang on to the car & get back in!

We're seeing alot of the 'stupid driver' syndrome here right now with our wacky weather too. Why is it that someone innocent gets dragged into these idiot's inability to drive?! Great shot, glad you are safe.

Unfortunately it's a sad fact that a small percentage of the drivers on our roads are just plain irresponsible and/or stupid and should not be granted a license to drive. I think we've all seen them out there and all we can do is shake our heads. They put everyone at risk. Anyway glad you avoided being involved and were able to capture this shot.

Dave
P.S. Did you get any shots the other day other than of the "gross ice" ?

Nice photo journalism Cindi. People really need to slow down, this certainly isn't worth trying to get to work on time!
