STANDING AT THE GATE

Mickayla was wanting to go to the park but I told her no. She didn't bother to tell her Mom and I that she had homework over the Christmas Holidays. Found out today she did. She never did it and it was never turned in. So, I let her go out for 15 minutes to do her exercise routine but she had to stay in the yard. She has an exercise routine that she does everyday. That's the only reason she's outside.

Needless to say, her Mom and I were not very happy with her and she got in trouble again. I just wish she wouldn't continue to tell us stories that aren't true. She even made up excuses why she didn't do it. Taking responsibility for her actions is not something she's very good at. Playing the blame game is.

Here she is really wanting to go play and kept asking me and I stood my ground. You have consequences when doing wrong. She was scheduled to have a riding lesson tonight but that was cancelled due to this. One of these days I'm hoping it will sink in.

Life is too short...let her be a bit irresponsible. Responsability will come when she'll need it! Beautiful image! v

Nice shot, Cindi, and it catches the mood of the narrative ... be strong ... it doesn't pay to always give in, as you point out ... v
Mairéad06-Jan-2011 20:09
The lighting in this is superb and you've captured her yearning to leave
the confines of the garden.

Tough Love. Keep at it.
Love this shot - it is such a lovely image to look at. I can feel her yearning to get beyond that gate. ~

It makes a lovely photo despite the dramas of childhood. Lollie does it too (Or doesn't do it too) sometimes and it makes me nuts.
LynnH06-Jan-2011 12:42
Just think, if she was your kid... you would do it 24/7 for about 25 years. LOL Hope you feel better soon. Love the mood in this photo!

Herb's an optimist.
Guest 06-Jan-2011 05:38
But at least you got a nice creative shot to make up for all the hiss and spit that goes with having a daughter
Glenn Dean (Vatorman)06-Jan-2011 04:35
But it seems to have turned this 'ugly' moment into a beautiful creation. It express so many moods.

Hmmm, sounds to me like this is just a phase. Hopefully, she'll see that this isn't getting her anywhere fast and change her ways.

Best of luck, dad!

Eventually it does sink in....... somewhere around 30 - 35 or so, but Dennis is right, I think we were all kids a long time ago
Bill Reed06-Jan-2011 02:54
Great story and image to show it. Very well done.
carol j. phipps06-Jan-2011 01:51
Powerful story-picture! Some children are strong-willed and it takes a lot of creativity (and prayer) to teach and discipline without hurting the spirit.
Dennis Warren06-Jan-2011 01:42
I'll bet you never did anything like that to your parents....
