I can't believe it!!! JoJo is Lavenda's (my dear, dear friend and "adopted" daughter) sister. I saw her today for the first time in quite a few years. Last time I saw her she was in highschool and very quiet. She has become a beautiful young lady and is working on her Master's degree in Interior Design. Lavenda just graduated and is now in the IT area and her other sister, Yonah just got her nursing degree. A party was held in Yonah's honor today. All 3 sisters are smart, beautiful and success oriented. I'm so proud of all of them and their brother too! He is also into the IT market and just got out of the military not too long ago.
They are all originally from Liberia and escaped the Civil War over there and came to America to start a new life. They are all now U.S. citizens and have succeeded in finding a better life here. I am so blessed to know this family and love each one of them. They are an inspiration to all for their hard work, dedication and to make a better life for themselves and their families. Their love for the Lord is so strong. Each one thanks God and prays daily for everything they have received. Never has that faith waivered, if anything it has become stronger. What this family had to endure in Liberia I cannot fathom. The stories I have been told are heart wrenching. So much can be learned from these folks and realize how well we have it here when you have had to endure war first hand. As Lavenda's mother has said, God got us through the worst and can get us through anything. She is so right!!I had a wonderful time shooting the party for Yonah and there will be a gallery of it coming up soon. Thanks, Lavenda and your family for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful milestone for Yonah!
