GALVESTON HISTORY

Galveston, TX

This historical statue stands in the heart of Galveston on the main boulevard. The word reads courage and this is what these folks who endured the wrath of Hurricane Ike have. I was down there today on assignment and got a lot of the devistation of the island. I'll be putting a gallery together to show some of the damage and how things are going down here. Some of the pictures I will not post as they are the property of a magazine. And, some are just too graphic to show. I had a press pass so I got to shoot some things no one else would normally see. Heartwrenching and heartbreaking. After a good cry, I traveled back up to Houston. I got what I came down here to do and I think tomorrow I may go to the zoo if it is open to shoot living things. My heart and prayers go out to all affected by Hurricane Ike. I guess it also fits with the tradition of folks helping folks in their time of need. A lot of people were down there volunteering and getting things cleaned up.

Be careful, I am looking forward to visiting with you about this trip. I think a lot of the country doesn't realize how devasting Ike was...it seems like the press isn't giving enough attention to this matter. But now Cindi is on the case!

Very nice one for this topic. I remember this statue. You were on assignment so try to put it all in perspective and realize the good that you are doing.
