FROM CANCER PATIENT TO CANCER SURVIVOR

This gallery is a tribute to all of those women and men who are now battling cancer, those that have battled the disease and for those that lost their fight. Dedicated especially to Lisa Jones, Dollie Smith, Jeanne Duke, Connie Roberson, Dawn Owens and Kaye.
I, myself am a survivor of breast cancer. Double mastectomy, chemotherapy, reconstructive surgery, survivor!
I thank my parents, my sisters, my cousins, my dear friends and all that prayed for me during my battle that I don't even know. Thank you all for your support, love and most of all prayers. I couldn't have beat this without God and your being there for me. Now, if I can just do that for someone else, then it was worth the fight. God Bless You All!

THE BEAUTIFUL LADIES THAT WORK FOR DR. DOORES My plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Dorres, is retiring and he will truly be missed. These ladies are the ones that took care of me while under his care. They are all so beautiful on the inside and out. I'm going to miss everyone because now I have to find another doctor. Dr. Doores is the best doctor and surgeon I've ever had the opportunity to know. He is the one that did my breast reconstruction after my double mastectomies. Not only is he a great doctor, he's very cute too! He wasn't around when I took this picture but I was able to get a shot of these 4 sweet ladies! I'm going to miss you all!	TEXAS ONCOLOGY FLOOR TWO SUITE 202 Where I go to get my testing done every 3 months.	VISITING THE OFFICE FOR MY TUMOR MARKERS I have to do this so they can make sure I'm cancer free and it is done every 3 months for the first year after chemo.	I NEED YOUR CO-PAY, PLEASE They take your money as well as your blood.
BLOOD SUCKER, NURSE WILLIAM He's a nice enough guy but I think he enjoys sticking people too much!	HE SMILES BECAUSE HE ISNT GETTING POKED	THE RUBBER GLOVES They use them for sanitation reasons...we used to fill them up with water and throw them at each other. Hmmmm....that is a good idea. Maybe Nurse William wouldn't mind getting wet!	PULLING THE VIAL AND THE NEEDLE Getting ready to stick me and I hate needles!!!!!!!
FINDING THE VEIN This is the worst part. I'm trying to be brave for the camera....cut me open, that's okay but don't stick me with a needle!	LOOK, HE'S ENJOYING HIMSELF	IF YOU NEED HELP JUST CALL HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!	REMOVING MY LIFE BLOOD Taking the blood...almost done.
BLUE TAPE THIS TIME What happened to my PINK TAPE?????	MY FAVORITE NURSE ANGIE, GOING OVER MY CHART This lady always has a smile and has been my nurse for over a year now. Hands down, she's got my vote!	WAITING FOR THE DOCTOR	DR ANDERSON, MY ONCOLOGIST

Truly cancer is a disease that each of everyone of us should be aware. lucky for those who have enough money that they can send their self for treatment but for those who are less fortunate well reality, they just wait for the end of their happy days. Actually i have an auntie who died in cancer last feb.11, 2008. in her own she dont want to die first because she wants to see her only child to be married, have an item in teaching but since the disease is really quite acute that even doctors said she might live for just another 3 months we cant stop the running of times just to let her stay alive. now that shes gone and the interment will be on her 60th birthday supppose to be on feb. 20, 2008. in a way, what happen to her made us realize to conduct check. up once in a year. above all we learn to appreciate life, give importance to it. and be thankful for everyday we wake up and still alive for life is just temporary experience that God allows us to happen, that sometimes we forgot.

My brain has the fog from chemo. It is very frustrating and embarrassing at times. It is a real experience and it is not the worst side effect just inconvenient in losing things and break in thought process. WBR LeoP

HI Cindi: Definetely you are Blessed by God. You are His Angel to inspire and bring hope to many people. While watching your gallery, I was thinking about that Chapter 9 on the John´s Gospell, where it says "As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?" Jesus answered, "It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the Glory of God might be displayed in him" During 2006 2 of sisters in law were diagnosed with breast cancer, one of them with radical mastectomy and the second one with partial. Cindi I admire your faith and courage I too am a breast cancer survivor for the second time. When I was nursing my 3 year old with a Medulla Blastoma many years ago I prayed every day for God to take me and save him but it wasn't to be. In 1995 when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer I thought Oh Oh God didnt forget now he has come to collect' but I survived another 10 years before a 2nd diagnosis in 2005. I am still here my faith has really been tested (losing both parents to cancer as well) but I still hope and pray that I can stay longer on this earth to see the beauty and hopefully grandchildren one day. I pray for all women battling this disease keep fighting and never give up.

God allowed me to go through cancer for a reason. God did not give me cancer, that started along time ago in the garden when man first sinned. He allowed me to go through it for a purpose. To make me help others, to become closer to him and to understand what is truly important in life. I've become a more compassionate person, more caring and more loving than I ever was. To me that was a gift. I survived to be able to help other women going through the same thing. God always brings good out of bad. That I truly believe. God is not to blame, He is the healer. When man first sinned is when illness started and that was because of Satan, not God. We are allowed to suffer in order for us to grow closer to Him. He carried me when I could not do it myself and He walks beside me everyday. He answers every prayer, every need for those who realize it is not us that rule but Him. For that I give him all the glory! I am alive today because of God and am here to prove it. God Bless everyone that finds this gallery an inspiration and if it helps one woman, then I've done my job.

Cindi: Your gallery is close to my heart. We are planning a party for my daughter friday. A year ago on St. Patricks Day, we learned that she had breast cancer, and a few days later during the partial masectomy learned that it had spread to her lymph glands. She was 30 then. A year later, her hair has grown back to a cute length (like yours in "me now") and she is doing well. I have worn a pink bracelet for nearly a year. I never realized how pervasive this disease is, nor how brutal the path to recovery. we celebrated the end of chemo. We celebrated the end of radiation. We celebrated the removal of her port. And now we will celebrate her first milestone as a survivor. God Bless you
