The photos of the Scoters were taken at Goose Spit on warm, sunny days. I had to disturb the birds to get down on the shore in position to take these photos, but the birds soon came back, only moving out again when someone else came along. Each time a bird came up with a clam it would swish it around in the water before swallowing it whole. This is probably in an effort to wash any sand off of the clam.
The Long-tailed Ducks and Red-breasted Mergansers were photographed at Deep Bay.
