This fine-looking male California Quail actually hit my window and was stunned. I picked him up and he seemed okay, so I tried to put him in a safe place, which he eventually flew off from, but not before I took a few quick photos.

Hopefully, the initial image in this series encourages everyone to fully learn ALL parts of a bird, not just the parts that make its identification clear and simple.
