Teretistris fernandinae
The genus Teretistris, represented by two species, is endemic to Cuba. Fairly ubiquituous in western forests, both lowland and on higher ground, this Yellow-headed Warbler is actually the more range-restricted of the two species, although it is encountered far more frequently by visiting birders, who spend less time within the Oriente Warbler's wider range. Yellow-headed Warblers are a common flocking bird, both with others of its own species but also with Cuban Vireo and, in winter, with North American-breeding parulids. Pishing tends to work well with the Yellow-headed Warbler, but less so with Oriente Warbler.
