Charlie with Blad

This is Charlie. I took a few shots of her with
the Blad (Hasselblad 500c) at the derelict hotel
at Corbiere. Using the Blad is a slower process
than using a digital SLR and she was curious about
what I saw through the view-finder.

There is something very gracious about using this
kind of camera. You bow to your sitter and present
yourself humbly. You dont have the "bang in your face"
scenario. The process is slower and you realy "create"
rather than snap. The light and focus become more of
an essential element rather than second nature.

Most of my models have revealed that they prefer to be
photographed this way, but the post processing just
takes a few days longer.

Rubbish.
..this is truly a fabulous shot, as are your others, but the reason is less likely due to what you wrote (which I 100pt. agree with as it applies to your other images; just not THIS one) and 100pct due to the reason that SEX sells, period.

A Young woman in a form fitting tank top with the outline of her breasts & nipples & a low, low rise set of jeans that clearly dominate the photograph is the reason we look - and there's nothing wrong with that (so let's not go reading into this TOO deeply) and the same would hold true if she were holding a rusted door knob in her hands, instead of the camera...we would still look because it's all about the sex baby*.

Kees, you are truly a poet. Not only with your images, but also with your words. The image is breathtaking. Reading your words about the way a "blad" makes you photograph, just reinforces my impression of you as a true artist. Please keep sharing your vision and your words.

Lovely image!

I must agree wholeheartedly with your comments on using a Blad. Whilst I use mine for mostly landscapes, the sloweness makes for much more care in composition & exposure. Whilst most of my shots on PBase are taken with my Nikon D70, it can't touch the quality of the results from the Blad.

What an incredibly sexy photo - what's wrong with me doc?

Hehehe, Yeah Norman, I have your details but this one used to belong to my grandfather. The chances that it will go are very limited. There is one advertised in this weeks Amateur Photographer with back and 80mm lens for GBP 250.00. These prices really make me wonder if analog is loosing the battle against digital and if film will remain available in the next decade or so...
