Edward Elgar (1857 - 1934),born near Worcester,has been described as the greatest English composer.

This statue is in Worcester,there are others at Gt.Malven and Hereford where he is depicted with his beloved bicycle.

The Cello Concerto is probably his most celebrated work and the recording by Jacqueline du Pre regarded as definitive.
