I did stilt fishing around 1979 or 1980 with my brother and father in the Trinco area, but that was before the war. So, the answer is yes, people do fish on stilts.

This is to the person who said that stilt fishermen are fake.You are wrong.I am from Sri Lanka and I have seen them everyday.Thomas Cook guy is a big lier.Do not trust everything they say.

Just one problem with that the Stilts fishermen are fake.
They are hired by the big Travel companies because there are no real ones anymore...
Somebody from Thomas Cook told me that they hire people to act there as soon as they have a bigger group of tourists...

Wonderful pictures of Sri Lanka. I particularly like the stilt fishermen one. You captured an unusual event. I loved the bird inthe hand--charming. I can't get over the clarity of your pictures.
