The Meathook Galaxy

NGC 2442 / 2443 or commonly known as the Meathook Galaxy is an intermediate spiral galaxy about 50 million light-years away in the constellation Volans.
Associated with this galaxy is HIPASS J0731-69, a cloud of gas devoid of any stars.
It is likely that the cloud was torn loose from NGC 2442 by a companion (WIKI)

At he bottom we can see the galaxy NGC 2434

This is possibly the best amateur image of this galaxy! I do prefer it north up however.
