Porrima

Cootamundra, NSW

Porrima or Gamma Vir/29 Vir, multiple star system with the primary shining at magnitude 2.74, this star is also a suspected variable 2.72 to 2.78.

Visible in the image are the following galaxies MCG 0-32-2, magnitude 13.90(B), the upper galaxy in the 1030 position, just to the lower left of this galaxy is MCG 0-33-3, shining faintly at magnitude 15.00(B), NGC 4629, magnitude 14.20(B) the lower galaxy in the 1030 position, PGC 4277, magnitude 15.60(B), half way between the brighter star to the left and NGC 4629, UGC 7840, magnitude 15.50(B)around the 1700 position.

A number of other very faint galaxies are visible in the original image. The glare of Saturn nearby has caused the very faint streak on the left hand side of the image.
