Now with such a misleading title, one could easily say, there are no flagstones,so why call it paved ?Well, the curious nature of Cobb's Lane,is that it has been "metalled" in the same fashion as Roman Roads were, with a ditch each side and a rammed gravel running surface. This hard packed gravel surface is visible up to and through the ford of the River Roding, and continues north eastward for about a mile.
