Much afforested;that's the polite way of saying its overgrown and there's no public access.Roughly halfway up the wooded bit,can be seen the top of the motte with two small,brown,flat areas.As with the motte at nearby Great Easton,it is thought that this castle mound was erected during The Anarchy of Stephen and Maud.It was therefore Adulterine.Permission had to be obtained from the King,to erect a castle.Without such permission,following the Anarchy,the normal practice was to remove it totally,but that wasn't done,in this case.
