ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My photographs show how I remember what I have seen, which means I work with the images more than some might say I ought to. For me, a photograph that shows what I see, and nothing more, doesn’t say anything. It’s just a picture. So I nudge my images in the direction of painting. (Sometimes I shove them.) When I sense that they say something, I give them titles. Often I don’t know exactly what they say, but I still provide a title because I think “untitled” is annoying. It’s enough that they have something to say, whether or not I know what it is. I hope these speak to you, even if you don’t know what they have to say either.
