I remember commenting on this image three years ago, Carol. When we were shooting together in Berkeley in front of this mural, I knew it looked familiar to me, but could not recall where I had seen it before. Now I know where I first saw this mural -- here. And when I made my own image of another part of it (http://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/80826147 ) I did much the same thing as you do here -- bring art to life and life to art.
This image drew me in from your thumbnails, Carol, and I was not disappointed. The line between reality and fantasy is blended beautifully in this photograph. For a moment, I even thought the guy in that phone booth was real!
My only suggestion for improvement would been to frame a bit more loosely so you would not have cropped off the eloquently expressive hand at the top, and the feet of the two real women at the bottom.
I try to do what you have done here a lot. I find a backdrop that captures the spirit of place and then wait for people to walk past. You commented on one of those shots earlier this year athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/25451657. I hope it was in the back of your mind when you shot this. It's remarkable.
Just what I always try to do myself---fade into the background!
I love this one, Carol! How long did you have to wait for those kids to come along? They really look like they belong there. This one's a winner!
