Belhurst Castle, Geneva, NY

The property that surrounds this castle was originally the site of a Seneca Indian village and home of the Council of the Six nations of Iroquois. In the early 18th century, the land became part of the state of Massachusetts. The castle was built during the time 1885-89 by Mrs Collins. Shortly after Mrs. Collins death, the castle was used as a gmbling casino and a restaurant by then owner Cornelius Dwyer. Several additions have been made over the years to add guest rooms. It continues to operate as a restaurant and a hotel. Belhurst Castle is listed on the National Register fo Historic Places.
